You may qualify for the 20% tax exemption if you meet all of the following conditions:
  • You are employed in Cyprus with an annual gross salary below €55,000 from employment income.
  • Your first employment in Cyprus began on or after 26 July 2022.
  • You were not a Cyprus tax resident for at least three consecutive years prior to starting your first employment in Cyprus.
  • You were employed full-time abroad during that period.
  • Your employment in Cyprus began within four months of leaving your last employer abroad.
The exemption allows you to deduct 20% of your employment income, capped at a maximum annual exemption of €8,550.
The exemption applies for a period of seven years, starting from the tax year following the year in which your first Cyprus employment began.
You may qualify for the 50% tax exemption if you meet the following criteria:
  • You are employed in Cyprus with an annual gross salary of €55,000 or more.You were not eligible for 50% during your first year in Cyprus, but due to a salary increase, bonus, or other declared profits, your yearly income in your second year in Cyprus reached at least €55,000
  • Failing to reach 55,000 euros per year during your first two years in Cyprus will let you fall from this exemption
  • You were not a Cyprus tax resident for at least 7 consecutive years before starting your employment in Cyprus.
  • Your first employment in Cyprus began on or after 1 January 2022.
The exemption allows you to deduct 50% of your employment income from personal income tax.
The exemption applies for a period of seventeen years, starting from the tax year in which the employment commenced, provided the salary threshold continues to be met.
Monthly income tax in Cyprus is calculated based on your estimated annual taxable income, using the applicable progressive tax bands effective from 2026:
  • 0% on the first €22,000 of your yearly gross salary
  • 20% on the amount from €22,001 to €32,000 of your yearly gross salary
  • 25% on the amount from €32,001 to €42,000 of your yearly gross salary
  • 30% on the amount from €42,001 to €72,000 of your yearly gross salary
  • 35% on the amount above €72,001
Your annual tax liability is calculated after applying any eligible exemptions or deductions and is then spread evenly across the year and deducted through payroll, alongside National Insurance and GESY contributions. At FxPro, we handle the entire tax payable, and you receive your net salary straight to your bank account.
Employees contribute 8.8% of their gross salary towards National Insurance, which covers pensions, sickness, unemployment, and maternity benefits. Contributions are subject to a monthly earnings cap.
GESY is Cyprus's national healthcare system. Employees contribute 2.65% of their gross salary (capped at 397.5 euros / month). Once registered, GESY provides access to public and private healthcare services at low or no cost.
Yes. Cyprus offers several tax incentives for individuals relocating for employment, including income tax exemptions, personal deductions, and reliefs introduced under the new 2026 tax framework. These incentives depend on factors such as income level, residency history, and family status.
Yes. From 2026 onwards, all individuals aged 25 and over are required to submit an annual income tax return, regardless of income level. In FxPro, we assist you with the entire process, and we cover the cost of application.
Employees working in Cyprus for FxPro are eligible for tax-advantaged benefits depending on each individual's residency status in Cyprus. To check your eligibility for tax discounts, please contact your personal accountant or auditor, as it's a case by case scenario, and only auditors & personal accountants can provide you with your accurate status.
In case you don't have a personal accountant or auditor, FxPro is able to provide you with the service once you join the company.
You'll need a tax identification number, National Insurance registration, GESY registration, and proof of residency.
